Gear advice online is mostly broken. A lot of it lists everything and recommends all of it. The rest is written by people the manufacturer took good care of. Neither version tells you what not to buy.
So we take a side. Every guide leads with a clear pick, says who it is for, and names the things we would skip and why. We would rather be useful than exhaustive.
We make money through affiliate links. Buy something through a link here and we earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. We are saying that up here instead of hiding it in a footer, because a site that is cagey about how it pays its bills is not a site to trust on anything else. The commission does not decide the rankings.
What we will not do: take payment for placement, run sponsored picks, or trade a kind word for a free unit. If that ever changes, this page changes first.
